Paul’s Blog Experiment

It has been years since I have written with any regularity and as long, it seems, since I have consciously made the time for a bit of introspection. My hope is to use this site as a catalyst for doing both, knowing that doing so will somehow help me to be much more present and, hopefully, more content in both when and where I live.

All were quite receptive and had very helpful feedback, helping us to make some decisions and resolving to implementing change sooner than later.

Fingers crossed!

I have an admission to make. I often become smitten with the idea of things. This usually involves some elaborate fantasy of me engaged in some activity... some “lifestyle” activity.

Writing? Done it.
Wines? Check.
Scooter? Bought one.
Exercise? Hired a trainer.

Unfortunately, about 50% of the time I just as quickly become disenchanted with the momentary object of my affection. (note the six month gap between posts)

I have been able to identify one constant. Whatever ‘it’ is, it almost always, always involves some relatively expensive purchase.

Meet my latest inspiration...

uhhuh.... ordered her today. JH doesn’t know yet. (yikes!)
JH and I voted in yesterday’s primary and then headed out after work to do the Texas two-step!

In the Texas primary process you get to “vote” twice! Sounds crazy, right? That’s because it is.

Initial excitement at the size of the turn-out descended quickly into frustration and in-fighting, as it became apparent that no one knew what they were doing.

I am pretty sure that multiple election laws were broken, as our temporary chair called the caucus to order and allowed voters to register their candidate preference before all the voters outside had finished casting their primary votes. It had to be done, he said, as there were elderly people present who were getting tired and wanted to have their voice count. AND, don’t forget! The children have standardized tests tomorrow, so they must be in bed promptly at 830....

I heard the next morning that several San Antonio caucuses were being challenged due to “irregularities”.

YEEEHAAA!

I increasingly find myself the subject of... the candid picture.

Believe it or not, this is one of the better ones.

So, we will have to celebrate this weekend. I can’t wait to give him his present!!!!

@Steven- Thank you for the card! It was a great surprise - very nice of you. I forwarded it to JH, as well.
